Last year, we launched the NC Shark Stranding Network, creating the state's first centralized effort to document and study stranded sharks along North Carolina's coast.

Since then, more than 100 sharks across 14 species have been reported, and we've built a network of 100 trained volunteers ready to respond and collect valuable scientific data.

But building the network was only the first step.

Every stranded shark provides an opportunity to better understand shark populations and the health of our coastal ecosystems. Through Operation: NEXT WAVE, we're expanding biological sampling, increasing field research, and investing in the tools needed to turn these observations into meaningful scientific discoveries.

With your support, we can build on this momentum, advance shark research, and drive the next wave of conservation in North Carolina.

$5,000: Equip the Mission
Once we reach $5,000 we can provide the essential gear, tools, and field supplies our team needs to safely collect data, respond to strandings, and conduct research throughout the season.
$10,000: Research the Unknown
At $10,000 we will be able to uncover critical insights about North Carolina's sharks through necropsies and biological sampling. With each necropsy costing more than $500 to complete, your support helps transform stranded animals into valuable scientific discoveries.
$25,000: Reach New Waters
At this tier, donations help support offshore research expeditions that allow our team and partners to access critical shark habitats, deploy tags, and collect data beyond the shoreline.
$50,000: Power the Research
At $50,000 we will be able to expand our field research capabilities by funding vessel operations, equipment, and long-term efforts to establish a dedicated research platform for year-round shark studies.
$100,000: Fund the Next Wave
Become the catalyst that powers our mission forward by fully funding shark research, conservation initiatives, education programs, and operational needs for the remainder of the year.

Together, we built the NC Shark Stranding Network. Now, with your support, we can turn those observations into discoveries and drive the next wave of shark research in North Carolina.
